(no subject)

Can anyone point me to something I could download off the internet to make icons with?  I keep wanting to make icons and being thwarted by lack of software.

GIMP! http://www.gimp.org - it is like Photoshop, only free :D

Yes, I recommend the Gimp too. It's what I use for mine. There are a couple of useful Gimp communities around too, which provide tutorials (because it doesn't come with a user manual :) )

I'm rather low tech about my icon-making, I just use powerpoint and ms paint, and they turn out okay...

Mmm. I've ended up with GIMP, and can now do things like turn Captain Jack Sparrow into a cat. It's fun :D
