The boy who -
...er, well - it’s like this...

Some time in the middle of sixth year, Harry tripped on one of the moving staircases. The fall broke his neck, killing him instantly.

Harry scrambled to his feet and looked down at his body with dismay. Um. He ran his hand through his traditionally messy hair, noting that both hair and hand were now silver, and transparent. This is so embarrassing.

It was fortunate that he was dead, because he would never have lived this one down.

The Late Harry Potter

"You can't be dead Harry," Hermione informed him, abstractedly flipping through yet another heavy tome. "The prophecy states quite clearly that only You-Know-Who can kill you."

And suddenly, Harry had had enough. It was bad enough being dead. It was bad enough that his beautiful emerald eyes had turned silver, that Draco Malfoy had dubbed him the Late Harry Potter, and that Snape was taking points from Gryffindor for said lateness at every opportunity. He didn't need his friends to be in denial about it on top of that. "So what is this, then?" he snapped, "corporeally challenged? There isn't a cure for this Hermione. I'm dead. D E A D, dead."

With an angry gust of spontaneous poltergeistic activity, he slammed the book shut and stormed out of the library.
