Masterlist

Warning: Masterlist still very much a work in progress. Reading through, editing, and reacquainting myself with everything first.

I am: [personal profile] order_of_chaos on dreamwidth, [livejournal.com profile] order_of_chaos on livejournal, [archiveofourown.org profile] order_of_chaos on the AO3, Chaosbeatie on fanfiction.net (last updated six years ago), and Cathcat on Deviant Art.

I have written: )

Teaching myself calligraphy. Words, beautiful words, and squiggles.

Not all that much to share, because I often practise by doing people's names and giving them away, and I've yet to do a proper project for myself.

I like this one, though 'twas but random practice on a convenient piece of newspaper.

Today, I went to the optometrist. I'll be getting glasses, but that's not the point. The point is that she was wearing cowboy boots and it was awesome.

Glasses will be awesome, too. I shall be able to see with clarity. Soon, my precious.

Resolutions

In 2011, order_of_chaos resolves to...
Buy new crossovers.
Find a better fanfiction.
Put fifty swords a month into my savings account.
Find a new porn.
Give up writing.
Become a better sparrington.
Get your own New Year's Resolutions:

My real ones, though. Spontaneity over procrastination, joy over apathy, clarity over clutter. Read more non-fiction, increase my fitness-level, find a decent workaround for the way my common sense shuts down when I'm tired when it should be telling me to go to sleep. Maybe write something sometime. Live.

I can do that.

Hobbit-extra auditions involved standing (sitting, lying) in a queue that wrapped right around a netball court and then some, in precisely the kind of lazy summer weather that made it impossible to mind doing so. Apparently waiting is what extras do mostly anyway, so this was good practice. Different being around so many people not significantly taller than me; even the men were of reasonable height. Auditions would have involved filling out a form and being photographed, but they ran out of time before we (dad and I) got to that part. It's not going to injure our chances of being Hobbits, though - someone (also Hobbit-sized) came around and, after weeding out everyone who didn't look right to be a Hobbit, gave us forms to fill out and send to them with the necessary photos. So that's all good. *grins* I have no idea when they'll tell us if we actually get to be Hobbits, so I continue to live in hope. Everyone with fingers and other body-parts crossed on my behalf... please keep them crossed until February next year :P

Also, sunburn.

I'm not getting my hopes up or anything, because seriously, what are the chances? But. Tomorrow I'm auditioning to be an extra in The Hobbit. A hobbit in The Hobbit. Open audition, you just have to show up and look short enough - women under 158cm, and I'm 156, so. My future will contain philosophical shrugging or stunned, gleeful flailing.

Odin-kitten: *tenses, ready to pounce*
Odin-kitten: *strikes out with one paw*
Glass of fish-tank: NONE SHALL PASS.
Odin-kitten: Any proximity to fish-tank is purely incidental. I am innocent. *nonchalantly licks paw*

My brain is strewn across a thousand different fandoms: Sherlock, Supernatural, Star Trek, Naruto, Cable and Deadpool, Red Dwarf, Harry Potter, From Eroica with Love, Avatar the Last Airbender, Doctor Who, Highlander, Adam Lambert, Stargate Atlantis, Final Fantasy VII, Transformers... okay, only about fifteen. That's somewhat reassuring.

Am still alive! Life is good. Not mine specifically (although that too, in many ways) - just life in general, which is glorious and full of things to read. And people who write things to read. And people who inspire people to write things to read. And art and music and sunshine and miniature paper-cranes and karate and tiny, tiny, tiny baby fish. And thorn-covered roses with petals that shade brightly from yellow to orange, and ballpoint pens with four different colours.

Music meme

Livejournal just sent me a reminder: [livejournal.com profile] order_of_chaos's birthday is coming up on July 28! I am much amused. I am also, apparently, doing a music meme:

1. If you'd like to play along, reply to this post and I'll assign you a letter.
2. You then list (and upload or link to the video, if you feel like it) 5 (6, 7) songs that start with that letter.
3. Then, as I'm doing here, you'll post the list to your journal with the instructions.

I got an H from [livejournal.com profile] arabwel, so here be H's. With youtube links, mostly, because they're my version of laziness!

Hoist the Colours (PotC)
Half Jack (The Dresden Dolls)
Happity (Fatcat & Fishface)
Heaven Help My Heart (Chess)
Hope Eyrie (Leslie Fish)
Haggis Season (Captain Beaky)

For Hoist the Colours, I blame PotC; for Half Jack, I blame [personal profile] synecdochic's SG1 AU Broken Wings; for Happity and Haggis Season I blame my dad; for Heaven Help My Heart, I blame my love of musicals (and upbringing in general - thus, indirectly, parental units again) and Hope Eyrie is by the same person as Banned from Argo and I somehow stumbled over it while looking for things beginning with H.

Otherwise known as the Five Questions Meme.

Process is thus:
1. You comment on this entry.
2. I ask you five questions.
3. You answer those five questions in a post on your journal.
4. When people comment on that entry, you ask them five questions.
5. They answer those five questions in a post on their journal.
6. When people comment on that post, they ask them--

My interrogator was (still is, though years have rolled over her head) [livejournal.com profile] kayliemalinza, and I am once again writing and dying in an attempt to not get halfway through this and then stop. Also, 'tis fun.

Questions from the Kayliesaur, and my answers thereto )

Comment and I shall ask you questions! (If my mind goes completely blank and forbids me to come up with questions of my own, I shall steal appropriate questions from elsewhere and ask you those instead.)

I did art. It is scribbley and sunsetty and I completely lack objectivity on it because I was there the whole time I was creating it, so any constructive criticism would be wonderful.

Have embraced my inner lurker. I think it likes me. Nevertheless, am cruelly forcing myself to update with this write or die thing.

*dies*

There. Choice made.

Am spinning wildly through ever fandom ever, lately. The last canon I watched (rewatched, technically) was Red Dwarf. I'd forgotten how very much I liked it, although last time I watched it I wasn't addicted to curries. Slightly worrying, that. Re-read [livejournal.com profile] kayliemalinza's rambleverse - always entertaining. Apparently Pike and his sister really aren't clones. Am mildly astonished, but it makes sense not to put too many different crack-ideas into one au. Also reading transformers, avatar: the last airbender, sherlock holmes, stargate atlantis, merlin, buffy the vampire slayer, doctor who, naruto, white collar, etc.

l;sdfkgjo;wetrh arrgh. Screen went red. Clearly pretending to be dead doesn't work. Um.

Set up aquarium. Bought guppies. Put female guppy #1 (for some reason I am unable to name fish) in breeding tank with a grill near the bottom so that when she gave birth she would be unable to eat her kids. Watched with ever-increasing frustration for about a week. Watched her finally give birth. Now have sixteen tiny guppies - fifteen in the tank.

Fish!

[personal profile] weaverbird had fish, and now, because I am a sheep (and sheep are known for the keeping of small aquatic lifeforms) so do I!

Title: Step together
Author: [personal profile] order_of_chaos
Pairing: Doctor/Master
Rating: G
Wordcount: 100
Summary: The Doctor accepts.
AN: For the [livejournal.com profile] best_enemies' drabble challenge prompts crisis and faith. I have no idea how those two words inspired this (especially since I never write anything, ever), but they did.

This is a familiar dance: the Master asks, the Doctor refuses, and life goes on, each balancing the other. Come. Watch it change.... )

Title: Doubly Flagitious
Author: [personal profile] order_of_chaos
Rating: G
Word count: 100
Disclaimer: I never owned PotC, and I gave Sophie (Norrington's wig) her freedom years ago.
AN: [personal profile] ell wrote wigfic. This is directly inspired by it. As in, written the moment I finished reading that, and this will make much less sense if you don't read that first.

Sophie's stunt doubles... )

Happy New Year!
I wish you one! More than one, even, if you'd like. Many!

1. Captain Jack Harkness is the anthropomorphic personification of sex. No, really, he is. In Good Omens (go and read Good Omens, if you haven't already) there are the four riders of the apocalypse, and when War, for example, goes anywhere, fights break out all around her. And over her. And she likes it. For Jack it's the same, but with sex. With fanon!Jack it's even more obvious; canon!Jack keeps having angst happen instead, which is tragic.

2. Fic recs (mostly recycled, because lately I've been living off ficrecs, which means that most of the things I think are awesome enough to rec are things I read because someone else recced them). If I was actually writing the post, there would be more, and maybe even mention of why I like them.
Symphony for Stars and Planets - Star Trek Orchestra AU (Kirk/Spock). String Theory, a Concerto for Violin in D Minor - SGA Orchestra AU (McShep).
Jack/Chewbacca with spot-on Jack-characterisation.
Home (Kirk/Spock) and its side-stories Gossip (pre-Chekov/Sulu), and Speculation (pre-Chekov/Sulu with awesome Chekov moments).

3. My brother karate-punched a hole in my door by accident a few weeks ago. It's kind of awesome in an "I will never let you live it down and I have a hole in my door for evidence" kind of way. Also, it proves that it's not enough to know your own strength - also also need to know the comparative strength (or flimsiness) of everything else as well.

4. Everywhere I turn, I run into a kink-meme. They're everywhere. [livejournal.com profile] st_xi_kink is on part ten already. It's kind of awesome.

5. I love subverting things. Tropes, genres, expectations of normalcy. Fairytales especially - I rewrote The Three Little Pigs all the time when I was a kid (First pig: straw, second pig: sticks, third pig: tomatoes, rocket chairs and mashed bananas. They all escaped in the rocket chairs; I can only assume it made sense at the time). It's no wonder I grew up to love fanfiction so much - it's a logical extrapolation of my personality back then.

1. It's my birthday! Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!
order_of_chaos: (Default)
1. Audiobook of Novelisation of Star Trek Movie. Was awesome. Was read by Zachary Quinto, who did the different voices and everything and. Was awesome.
Special mention would have been made of the Sarek/Amanda scene at the very beginning (highly adorable), and the Kirk/Enterprise scene only fairly near the beginning.

Kirk: *checks out still-under-construction Enterprise*
Kirk: [to himself] What the hell do you think you're doing? You sleep on a starship, not with it.
Chaos: Suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuure.

2. Had cold. Got better. Had 'nother cold. Still in process of getting better.

3. 3 recipes you're probably better off not knowing
Microwave fudge, milo mousse, 5 minute in a cup chocolate cake (I know I got this from someone on my flist, but...).

4. Long long ago, in the early days of Star Trek fandom, there was a tribble. And there was a plot bunny. They met.

5. Books I've read recently (recently being within the last two or three days): Curse of Chalion (Lois McMaster Bujold), Temeraire/His Majesty's Dragon (Naomi Novik), House of Many Ways (Daina Wynne Jones), Bloodhound (Tamora Pierce). Books I will have read recently: Paladin of Souls (Bujold), Throne of Jade (Novik), Black Powder War (Novik), Empire of Ivory (Novik), Victory of Eagles (Novik).
Books! With pages! As in, not inside the computer :D

1. I shall be 25 in less than three days. Eeep.
